The same picture is not the same, the reflection of the activities and the daily habits, the head bubbling, circling and looking larger than normal size, revealing one eye where the other eye is hidden, resembling hopes, like a childhood game, a memory, the path to recalled memories in the vortex of space, a form of imagination, wishful thinking and dreams, something that comes back as a symbol and a metaphor when things seem as though they are different.
pirrie.space proudly presents new works from Darwin/Jogyakarta-based artist Sadat Laope.
A graduate of the Indonesian Institute of Art (ISI, Jogjakarta, in 2007) with a major in printmaking, Laope has held solo exhibitions at prominent Jogja art venues such as Kedai Kebun Forum, Indonesian Visual art Archive (IVAA), and the Jogja National Museum. He maintains a diverse practice through mediums including woodblock printing, drawing, painting, zine-making/artists books, and performance art.
